Ross Kempsell, a British political strategist, journalist, and policy advisor, has significantly contributed to the Conservative Party. Born in 1992 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, he excelled academically, graduating with a Double First in English Literature from the University of Cambridge.
Kempsell began his journalism career, lending his expertise to renowned publications such as The Sun and the Daily Mail. In 2016, he joined the libertarian Guido Fawkes website as a writer. Later, he became the first Political Editor of Rupert Murdoch’s UK radio stations, talkRADIO, and talkSPORT. His broadcasting career progressed further as he assumed the role of Special Correspondent for Times Radio, a sister station of News UK.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson recognized Kempsell’s talents in 2019 and appointed him to the Number 10 Policy Unit. Kempsell actively contributed to shaping the Conservative Party’s 2019 election manifesto. Kempsell became Political Director at Conservative Campaign Headquarters in the subsequent year, overseeing the party’s successful 2021 Hartlepool by-election campaign. Concurrently, he fulfilled the Director of the Conservative Research Department role, continuing these responsibilities under Prime Minister Liz Truss.
After a year-long hiatus from journalism to advise the Prime Minister, Kempsell returned to Wireless as the Special Correspondent for Times Radio. His role focuses on reporting on home affairs and major public policy issues. Kempsell’s return to radio and journalism aligns with the launch of Times Radio, where he aims to provide compelling coverage of complex public policy matters. His reporting encompasses various areas, including home affairs, policing, crime, security, defense, social policy, and the NHS.
