American Businessman Robert Kraft

Robert Kraft is well-known for owning the New England Patriots and being one of the most influential figures in sports. But, what most people don’t know is that he grew up mired in debt and misery in the slums of post-World War II Italy. As an American industrialist and sportsman, Kraft has received numerous accolades, including the Order of the Lion of the Republic, presented to him by Italian President Sergio Mattarella. We will discuss how Robert Kraft came to be who he is today.

Kraft was born on February 7, 1944, in Brookline, Massachusetts, and spent most of his childhood in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Kraft spent much of his childhood playing football at his childhood home. His father was a state senator in Massachusetts, and he was often asked to speak at local town-hall meetings. His best-known holdings are the National Football League’s New England Patriots and the New England Revolution soccer team. He is also the majority owner of the English Premier League soccer club Manchester United and Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution. In 2009, Kraft sold his shares in Manchester United to his current owner, Malcolm Glazer.

For his commitment to philanthropic endeavors and his lifelong support of American and Italian business ventures, Robert Kraft holds an honorary Doctorate from The New England School of Law. In May of 2013, Kraft was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri, alongside Olympic figure skater Donald Palumbo, a member of the New York Yankees’ pitching staff and a former Mayor of Schenectady, New York, as well as golfer Jack Nicklaus.

In addition to his business activities and philanthropy endeavors, Robert Kraft is famous for his charitable work with charities such as The Kraft Group (KGT), which helps people find employment and provide for their families.
