Roy Beck is a retired journalist and anti-immigration activist who has been a leader in the fight against illegal immigration for over 30 years. Beck began his career as a reporter at The Dayton Daily News. He was also the first editor of The Dayton Daily News’s sister publication, The Tribune Weekly. In 1973, he moved to California, where he worked as a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. Beck left the LA Times in 1976 to work with the Coalition for Immigration Reform. He was also a writer and commentator for KABC-TV’s Los Angeles news broadcast. He then returned to Dayton, Ohio, and joined with local anti-immigration activists to stop illegal immigration into Ohio.
Roy Beck was born on October 10, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio. He was the first of six children born to William Beck and Lillian (Beck) Beck, who lived on West Third Street in Dayton. His father, William, worked as a machinist, and his mother, Lillian, worked as a seamstress. Beck attended public schools in Dayton until he completed eighth grade, when he dropped out to work at the local shoe store owned by his father.
Roy Beck career began as a reporter for the Dayton Daily News. In the early 1960’s he worked as a reporter on the paper’s city desk. Beck eventually became city editor. He attended Ohio State University for one year before dropping out to work for United Press International (UPI). Beck then returned to Dayton and joined local anti-immigration activists to stop illegal immigration into Ohio.
Beck was a leader in the fight against illegal immigration for over 30 years. As a leader, he has always been involved in the grassroots movement to stop illegal immigration into America.
