Sudhir Choudhrie’s Lifelong Devotion to Practicing Gratitude

Sudhir Choudhrie was born in 1949 in the capital of India, Delhi. His mother was a delightful parent figure and caretaker even after his father passed away when he was little. When he was eight, she brought him for his first thorough medical examination, which revealed a leaky valve in his heart. His heart skipped because of his unusual condition, and doctors thought it might give out at any moment.

Choudhrie’s heart ailment caused him to have health issues throughout his life, yet he never allowed it to stop him from achieving his goals. He excelled throughout high school and was accepted to the University of Delhi. He studied economics in college and then spent some time in his grandfather’s real estate firm before breaking into business independently. Today Choudhrie owns a chain of enterprises and is recognized as a successful entrepreneur in India and globally.

Gratitude & Philosophy

Sudhir Choudhrie is one of the longest-living heart transplant patients, having survived for 22 years with his new heart. Despite the progress in medicine, only a few of these procedures have been as successful. Choudhrie’s outlook on life and the value of maintaining a healthy physique has been strengthened by his experience.

After his transplant, Choudhrie vowed to do two things for himself. The first goal was to impact both organ donors’ and receivers’ lives. In 2010, Choudhrie and his family set up the Choudhrie Family Foundation to rally support for organ donation.

This foundation supports medical and health education initiatives in the United States, the United Kingdom, and others. One example is the #OrgansWill campaign in the United States; its goal is to recruit 62,500 new organ donors. If it succeeds, the campaign may be able to save the lives of half a million people.

Currently, Sudhir Choudhrie devotes much of his time to charitable work. Most notably, the Choudhrie Family Foundation donated significantly to a library at Oxford University, which bears the family’s name. He is also engaged with several other medical and educational organizations across the globe. Refer to this page for additional information.
